After graduating from the Kyōto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts Baisen pursed a career as an independent painter. His art training prepared him to paint in the then new school of nihonga painting. Nihonga combined the traditional Japanese style of yamato with the traditional European practice of painting subjects in a realistic way. This gallery shows twelve of Baisen’s flower and (or) bird paintings. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
